The townhouse is located on the Northern side of Reservoir, to the rear of an existing post war, weatherboard dwelling.
This was an opportunity not to be missed, taking an underused space in a well serviced urban pocket and transforming it into a family home.
This house is simple, but functional in design. Upon arrival you are greeted with a large entry porch, which immediately establishes a sense of space. The downstairs area is made up of the family living space which includes an open kitchen, laundry, bathroom and garage. The kitchen opens onto a living space, which in turn opens out to a compact, yet functional courtyard. The large north facing sliding doors, allow this house to maximise the direct sunlight, whilst the rear area of the home contains a skylight to bring ambient light into the kitchen. The upstairs space is divided into 3 bedrooms and a bathroom.
The building is dressed with a combination of monochromatic, neutral materials which assist in breaking up the external surfaces and succeeds in counteracting the square shape of the building and site.
All of the joinery is custom made to ensure efficient use of space. The polished concrete floor paired with warm timber veneers create a low maintenance, cosy family home.
